Aldershot is about 10 minutes away by car and is the home of the british army. There are numerous army museums in the area, details of which are given below. Aldershot Military MuseumAlong side hundreds of objects ranging from a hoof pick to a search light, there are also many things to do. For younger (or older!) visitors there are puzzle cubes, a training tunnel, 'feely boxes' - you can even take a 'ride' in a tank. The Museum was officially opened in March 1969 by Field Marshall Montgomery. It traces the history of British Airborne Forces since their beginning in 1940 to the present day.Approximately 10 minutes away. The museum is housed in Keogh Barracks, Mychett Surrey.This is the history of army medicine and healthcare, human and animal, from the English Civil War to the current day. For more information go to Army Physical Training Corps Museum REME Museum of TechnologyReflecting the history of the Corps of REME and its soldiers, the museum has a 1950's Guardroom display and a main museum display with medals, dioramas, equipment and trades. A vehicle exhibition hall houses 20 specialist vehicles and a helicopter. A weapons display is currently under construction. This is about 20 minutes drive from Lakeside International Hotel. For more information go to REME Museum of Technology The Royal Logistic Corps MuseumThe museum, recently modernised and refurbished, houses a comprehensive collection relating to the history and activities of the Royal Logistic Corps and its several antecedent corps. Displays include uniforms, medals, weapons and historical artifacts portraying the development of military logistics from the Middle Ages to the present day.This is minutes drive from Lakeside International Hotel. The museum also embraces the Royal Military Academy's historic archive which includes the gentlemen cadet registers.Visits are by appointment only.
